Happy Birthday Lukas! with Kenny Rogers’ “The Greatest”

Sorry Mikey I’m borrowing the “Songs in the Key of Life” idea again! If you’re not familiar with Mikey, or the “Songs in the Key of Life” idea, well slide on over to PopBlerd! Just wait until you’ve read my post, okay? “Songs in the Key of Life” was a PopBlerd! favorite of mine, a column that uses the title of Stevie Wonder’s epic album from 1976, and allows us, the wannabe writer, to compare a song in our life to a moment in our life. In the past I used Steven Curtis Chapman’s “Cinderella” to cry about my sweet daughter, and I used Rascal Flatt’s “Skin (Sara Beth)” to talk about my wife’s battle with…

    Learning about Heartbreak

So much to say, but I just don’t want to talk about it. However, sometimes it needs to be said, so instead of wasting an entire evening diving into another post about how I tend to dislike sports about the same time, every friggin’ year, I’ll just briefly write about what’s on my mind. NOTE: After finishing I’ve decided, I didn’t really briefly write about it. So here’s another sad post about football. I need a new hobby. Five Tips for Attacking an Amusement Park with Three Somewhat-Young Kids

The chaos has ended. I started to write this post minutes after we arrived home and had put the kids to bed. I couldn’t do it. I was physically tired. Mentally exhausted. A little sunburned. My feet were sore. I had just trekked back and forth across an amusement park that is part roller coaster rides and part waterslides. And the best part? I did it with three still-somewhat-young kids. A day later and I’m still recuperating. NOTE: It’s been a week and a half later and I think I’ve finally recuperated. Lis has told me to relax a bit and not give myself deadlines for my writings that don’t need deadlines,…

    Time for The Talk

Originally posted on Life With Three Kids, August 13, 2016 It was homecoming night, my senior year in high school, and I had just snapped on my bow tie when my dad approached me and said, “Have fun son, and remember girls can be trouble.” “Thanks?” I remember leaving and thinking, “Did we just have ‘The Talk’?” Yes, The Talk. Where the father is supposed to sit down with the son and teach him about how if you put the penis into the vagina, baby or STDs could be born. No, that last sentence wasn’t easy for me to write. Neither will the rest of this.

    How “IT” Changed My Life…Maybe!

“Dad…I can’t sleep.” It’s my 13-year-old son. It’s 1:30 a.m. Three hours after we finished watching the horror flick IT. Three hours after I felt I had committed psychological child abuse.
